 Getting to Know You

  1. What is your background or area of expertise?

I am originally from Bangladesh, and got my Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering from the Department of Urban Innovation at Yokohama National University, Japan, in 2023. I subsequently served as a Postdoctoral Researcher and Assistant Professor at the same institution. Since April 2025, I have been working as a Researcher at the Press-in Technology R&D Center of GIKEN LTD.

  2. How did you first learn about IPA?

I first learned about IPA in 2020 from Dr. S. M. Shafi, a student member of IPA’s Technical Committee 1 (TC1). Later, at CREST2023—co-organized by IPA—I was honored with the ISSMG Bright Spark Lecture Award. This experience provided me with a deeper understanding of IPA’s role in advancing Press-in Technology.

  3. What motivated you to join IPA?

As a researcher working in the press in technology, I believe, IPA will deepen my understanding of recent advancements in Press-in Technology. It will also help me remain up-to-date through IPA’s workshops, webinars, and conferences, while offering valuable opportunities to connect with professionals.

 Expectations & Aspirations

  1. What do you hope to gain from being a member of IPA?

IPA keeps its members informed of the latest research, innovations, and practical applications in Press-in Technology. I hope to attend lectures by industry leaders to enhance my understanding of design methodologies and their implementation in real-world scenarios.

  2. What are your future goals or aspirations in your field?

As a member of the Press-in Technology R&D Center at GIKEN LTD., I am interested in the environmentally responsible application of Press-in Technology across diverse site conditions, including urban areas, heritage sites, and ecologically sensitive zones. I am committed to advancing this field through continuous learning and focused research.

 Looking Ahead

  1. What are your thoughts on the future of press-in technology?

Press-in Technology is increasingly aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), emphasizing low-carbon construction and reduced environmental impact. Its applicability to urban redevelopment and post-disaster reconstruction further highlights its practical value. I believe that, through collective promotion via IPA, this technology can be adopted across a wider range of infrastructure projects globally.

  2. Do you have any message for IPA Newsletter readers or the younger generation entering this field?

Press-in technology offers a unique blend of innovation, precision, and environmental stewardship—shaping the future of smarter, quieter, and cleaner engineering. Join the next generation leading this transformative advancement —ideal for researchers eager to make a real-world impact.
