Meet Ms. Ayano Kitagawa : A New Member’s Perspective on Joining IPA

 Getting to Know You

  1. What is your background or area of expertise?

I was raised in Kochi, Japan, and pursued my studies at Kansai Gaidai University, where I learned about international relations and communication through experiences such as studying abroad. I have returned to Kochi and joined GIKEN LTD. in April this year.

  2. How did you first learn about IPA?

I learned about IPA through a presentation for new employees at GIKEN LTD.

  3. What motivated you to join IPA?

I decided to join IPA because, after learning through a presentation for new employees that it is an organization promoting the press-in method globally, I wanted to deepen my knowledge of the technology as a member of GIKEN LTD.

 Expectations & Aspirations

  1. What do you hope to gain from being a member of IPA?

I hope to gain access to international projects and technical knowledge, as well as insights from professionals and researchers who are advancing the press-in method. I also look forward to learning how the press-in method is practically applied to contribute to sustainable and innovative construction.

  2. Are there any specific topics or areas you are particularly interested in (e.g., offshore wind, press-in technology, sustainability, etc.)?

I am particularly interested in how press-in technology can contribute to building a more sustainable society.

 Looking Ahead

  1. What are your thoughts on the future of press-in technology?

With automatic operation, there is no longer a need to spend a long time training workers, and remote operation makes it possible to overcome construction difficulties caused by a lack of skilled personnel at the site. I hope the ongoing development of press-in technology for use in space will lead to the solution of even more challenges in the future.

  2. Do you have any message for IPA Newsletter readers or the younger generation entering this field?

As a newcomer to the press-in field, I know there is much to learn, but I’m excited to grow by learning from IPA members. I believe this technology has big potential—not just for solving today’s construction problems, but also for future ideas like using it in space. I look forward to learning more, step by step.
