History
1975 | The first ‘reaction based’ hydraulic sheet pile jacking/pressing machine was developed by Mr. Akio Kitamura of GIKEN LTD. in Japan. |
1994 | The research collaboration started between GIKEN and the Cambridge University. |
2002 | Prof. D. White, one of the current directors of IPA, earned a PhD degree related to the Press-in Method. |
2005 | The IPA Preparatory Assembly was held at Kochi University of Technology in Japan. (Founders: Mr. Akio Kitamura of GIKEN LTD, Prof. Malcolm Bolton of the Cambridge university and Prof. Hajime Okamura of Kochi University of Technology) |
2007 | IPA was established and Prof. Malcolm Bolton assumed the first IPA President. |
2010 | The first IPA Press-in Engineering Seminar was held in Tokyo and Kochi, Japan. (hereafter continuously held in Japan) |
2015 | “Design and construction manual of the Press-in Method (2015)” (in Japanese) was published. |
2016 | ・Press-in retaining structures: a handbook (First edition 2016) was published ・Dr. Osamu Kusakabe assumed the second IPA President. ・Technical Committee(TC)1, TC2, TC3 were founded. ・IPA Newsletters started being published. |
2017 | The first IPA Seminar on Press-in Technology was held in Singapore. (hereafter continuously held in Asian Countries) |
2018 | ・The First International Conference on Press-in Engineering was held in Kochi, Japan. ・IPA Award related to Press-in Technology was founded |
2019 | ・“Press-in Piling Case History Volume1, 2019” was published ・Chinese Version of “Press-in retaining structures: a handbook” was published |
2020 | ・“Design and construction manual of the Press-in Method (2020)” (in Japanese) was published ・Prof. Chun Fai Leung assumed the third IPA President |
2021 | ・The Second International Conference on Press-in Engineering was held online. ・Press-in retaining structures: A handbook Second Edition, 2021 (English, Russian, Thai and Portuguese version) was published. |
2022 | ・Press-in retaining structures: A handbook Second Edition, 2021 (Spanish, French, Vietnamese and German version) was published. ・IPA 15th Anniversary Seminar was held in Singapore |
2023 | ・Press-in Retaining Structures: A Handbook Second Edition, 2021 (Koren) was published. ・Early Career Engineer Award was founded. |
2024 | ・Prof. Kenneth Gavin assumed the fourth IPA President. ・The Third International Conference on Press-in Engineering was held in Singapore. |
