The 14th IPA Press-in Engineering Seminar in Kanazawa 2024

The 14th IPA Press-in Engineering Seminar in Kanazawa 2024, subtitled "Reconstruction and Disaster Countermeasures after the Noto Peninsula Earthquake," was held on October 9, 2024, in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan. The event brought together approximately 120 participants, including policymakers, researchers, engineers, construction contractors, and students, who attended either onsite or online.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Kusakabe highlighted the importance of Gross National Safety (GNS) for natural disasters, emphasizing its potential role in supporting government efforts to plan and implement effective disaster prevention measures.
 
During the closing remarks, Prof. Matsumoto stressed that, beyond implementing disaster countermeasures in advance, it is equally crucial to establish strategies for rapid recovery before a disaster occurs.
 
We hope this seminar contributes to the early recovery and reconstruction of affected areas and informs future disaster preparedness efforts.
